Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Halal Auto Financing Edmonton ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you use halalautofinancingedmonton.ca (the "Site") or contact us. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
2. Personal information we collect
Information you give us when you complete a form, call, text, or email us:
- name;
- phone number and email address;
- the area or city you are in;
- vehicle preferences (new or used, budget or target monthly payment);
- employment situation;
- whether you have a vehicle to trade in;
- preferred contact time; and
- anything else you choose to tell us about your inquiry.
If your inquiry moves forward, a participating dealership or financing partner may separately collect additional information from you (for example, government-issued ID, proof of income, address history, or banking details). That collection is governed by their own privacy policies.
Information we collect automatically when you visit the Site:
- IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system;
- pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent;
- referring website; and
- data from cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you through Site forms, phone calls, text messages, and email, and automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you use the Site.
4. Why we use your personal information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about it;
- arrange Shariah-compliant, interest-free vehicle financing on your behalf with participating dealerships and financing partners, including identifying suitable vehicles and financing options;
- verify the information you provide;
- send you information, updates, and marketing messages where you have consented (you can withdraw consent at any time);
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
- detect and prevent fraud, misuse, and security incidents; and
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
5. When we disclose your personal information
We disclose personal information:
- To participating dealerships and financing partners — so they can prepare and assess a financing arrangement and contact you about it. We share only what is reasonably needed for that purpose.
- To service providers who work on our behalf — for example, customer relationship management and form software (GoHighLevel), website hosting, analytics, and communication services. They are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons — when required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a public authority, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of others.
- In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Consent
By submitting a form or contacting us, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Policy. For text messages and marketing email, we rely on your express consent, and consent to marketing is never a condition of obtaining a product or service. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by:
- replying STOP to a text message;
- using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email; or
- contacting us using the details in Section 13.
Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer help with your inquiry.
7. Data storage and location
Some of our service providers, including GoHighLevel, store and process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. Where that is the case, your personal information may be subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access requests by their courts and government agencies. By using the Site, you acknowledge this transfer.
8. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it. Inquiry records are generally retained for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required.
9. Safeguards
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Subject to legal exceptions, you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw consent to our use or disclosure of your information; and
- ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond within the time required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact:
- the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta — oipc.ab.ca; or
- the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — priv.gc.ca.
11. Cookies and analytics
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, and understand how the Site is used. We may use analytics services such as Google Analytics, which set their own cookies and process usage data on our behalf. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Site works.
